A nightly app blocker for iPhone

The app blocker that gets you to sleep on time.

Pick the bedtime you keep meaning to keep. An hour before it, WindDown blocks social media, video, games, and every other distraction on your iPhone until morning. Your reading, audiobook, and podcast apps stay open. The scroll ends, the chapter begins, and you are asleep when you wanted to be.

What a blocked app shows after bedtime.

How it works

An alarm clock forces you out of bed in the morning. WindDown does the opposite: it puts your phone to bed first, so you actually fall asleep at your bedtime.

1

Pick your bedtime

Choose the time you want to be asleep, a wake time, and how long you want to wind down. One schedule, every night, including the ones that cross midnight.

2

Choose what stays open

Kindle, Audible, Libby, Books, your podcast app. You pick the allowlist with Apple's own Screen Time picker. Everything else gets shielded when wind-down starts.

3

Fall asleep on time

With nothing left to scroll, sleep comes at the hour you picked. Make it to morning without breaking the shield and your streak grows. Shields lift on their own at your wake time.

Need your apps back before morning? That's the Gate.

The Gate is the only way to unblock your apps early: a slow, full-screen series of questions about why you want back in. You can always get through it, but you cannot tap through it mindlessly.

Catch yourself in an honest answer and your streak survives. WindDown opens your book instead and remembers what almost pulled you back in.
